When your tattoos no longer please you and you want to remove them, the available options range from the age old techniques to the more recent methods that use technology for the process.

Tattoo Removal in Mumbai

Here are some of the most common tattoo removal techniques used today:

Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal is done by a skilled professional. The method uses laser to break the ink in your tattoo into tiny bits. Your body excretes these pieces during the natural waste removal procedure of the human body. Different types of inks used in the tattoo will need different laser technology to break it up.

This procedure takes time, weeks or even months, for totally erasing a tattoo. It is a good choice but does involve some risks. Since the skin is broken for the laser to break up the ink, there could be some temporary blistering or swelling around the tattoo area. Infection and loss of or increase in pigmentation is more serious side effects.

Dermabrasion
This is an older method of tattoo removal. It involves rubbing the area with a suitable brush, usually a wire brush or a diamond fraise, it is similar to sand papering a surface to make it smooth. This method is also useful for removing deep acnes or other spots. The method is moderately painful and the procedure could go on for several months before the tattoo is finally removed. Derambrasion peels off the upper layer of the skin which may lead to some scarring of the area.

Salabrasion
This method is often clubbed with derambrasion. The tattoo is soaked in saline solution for pigment removal. Only very shallow tattoos can be removed using this method. This process does not completely remove a tattoo. Your tattoo will fade when you use this method.

Scarification
Scarification uses acid solutions to remove tattoos. These chemical pels are applied to the tattoo area for the chemicals to penetrate the skin and peel off the surface layers. This induces a controlled injury to the skin. The normal defense mechanism of the body kicks in and the area heals with the growth of new skin cells.

The two types of acid used for the peels are Trichloroacetic acid or TCA, a mild acid that takes several applications to fade the tattoo and Phenol, which is stronger and more penetrative and can remove tattoos faster.

Surgical removal
The tattoo can be removed surgically by cutting and lifting it off. The cleaned skin can be sutured back for small tattoos. For larger surfaces, you may require skin grafting to complete the process.

Camouflaging
Your tattoo can be camouflaged with a new pigmentation. You can choose to cover the old tattoo with a new one or to fill the area with skin toned colors.

Intense pulse light
This treatment fades the tattoo and uses the laser treatment concept but a different light source.

Select one of these tattoo removal methods to erase your unwanted tattoo. It is important however to get a consultation from an expert before you take a decision!
